Summary
Mieke has been working as an Independent Guardian ad Litem since September 2013. Since this time she has been appointed nationwide to cases in both the District and High Court, and has worked with both children and adults in this role. She is a registered Social Work Practitioner with CORU, is fully Garda Vetted and is a member of The Independent Guardian ad Litem Agency panel. Mieke has a Master’s Degree in Child Art Psychotherapy from UCD. This training has provided her with significant experience in the area of attachment and Child and Adolescent Mental Health.

2013–Present | Child Art Psychotherapy, Dublin. Mieke completed a twenty-month placement as a trainee Child Art Psychotherapist in Dublin North City and County CAMHS from November 2013 to August 2015. She has been working as a Child Art Psychotherapist in Willowtree Child and Family Centre, Dublin 3 since October 2015. She is registered with the Association of Child Art Psychotherapists (ACAP).
2018–Present | Director of Origins Foster Care, Dublin. Mieke is a director of Origins Foster Care, Independent Fostering Service, which she established with co-director Eugene Bigley in 2018. The main business of Origins Foster Care is to recruit, assess, train and support Foster Carers who can offer high quality placements for children referred by Tusla to the agency. Origins Foster Care places children from age 0-18 in foster care placements, many of whom have suffered abuse and trauma and therefore have particular safeguarding needs.
